Step 3: Prepare For and Schedule Your PRAXIS Subject Assessment
A critical component of the admission process is the PRAXIS Subject Assessment. It is imperative to prepare for and schedule this exam as early as possible. Passing the PRAXIS Subject Assessment in your intended teaching subject is a prerequisite for joining the Career Switcher Program. Scheduling and receiving your scores can take time, so proactive planning is key.

Most PRAXIS Subject Assessment tests are administered at central locations on Saturdays. Plan ahead, keeping in mind registration deadlines and potential late registration fees. Check the ETS website for current schedules:

Allow approximately four weeks to receive your official test results, which should be forwarded to the Office of Extended and Distance Education at Shenandoah University via email.
Step 4: Submit Remaining Required Documents
As you gather them, promptly submit the remaining necessary documents to the Office of Extended and Distance Education. These documents, in addition to your deposit and application, include:
- Official, sealed transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities.
- Official PRAXIS Subject Assessment test scores.

Approximately six weeks before the upcoming Fall or Spring session commences, the program coordinator will email you an update on your application status. The Office of Extended and Distance Education will formally notify you via email once you are fully qualified for the Career Switcher program.
Ensure all application materials and your final tuition payment are submitted to the Office of Extended and Distance Education roughly three (3) weeks before the program’s start date. Specific deadlines are provided to students in the registration materials.
