Are you an In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) provider looking to enhance your skills and career through the Career Pathways Program? This program offers valuable training opportunities, and it’s essential to know how to properly submit your training hours to receive credit. This guide will walk you through the process of entering your IHSS Career Pathways program training time in the electronic timesheet portal, ensuring you get recognized for your commitment to professional development.
To begin, the portal for submitting your training hours is the same one you use for your regular IHSS timesheets. Follow these simple steps to claim your training time and any eligible incentive bonuses:
First, log in to the IHSS electronic timesheet portal. Once you are logged in, navigate to the top left corner of the page. You will see a drop-down menu. Click on this menu to expand the options.
Within the drop-down menu, locate the option labeled “Time Entry”. Hover over or click on “Time Entry” to reveal a sub-menu. From this sub-menu, select “Career Pathways”. This will direct you to the specific section for submitting your Ihss Career Pathways Programs related hours.
After selecting “Career Pathways”, you will be prompted to choose your claim type. Use the drop-down menu to specify whether you are claiming “training time” or submitting for “specific incentives”. You will also need to select the recipient for whom you are providing services.
It’s important to understand how incentives are labeled in the IHSS e-timesheets portal compared to Career Pathways program publications. While most program materials refer to incentives as Incentives 1, 2, and 3, the portal uses different labels.
When submitting your timesheet claims for incentives, ensure that you have already submitted all corresponding courses. Then, use the appropriate drop-down menu to select the correct incentive:
- For Incentive 1, choose “Training Incentive”.
- For Incentive 2, select “One-Month Assignment Incentive”.
- For Incentive 3, choose “Six-Month Assignment Incentive”.
On the subsequent page, you will be able to input your course information. Accuracy is key here. Be sure to include the course number and write out the course title exactly as it is listed in the Course Catalog. Avoid any abbreviations, even if the title is long, as this could lead to rejection of your claim. It is also crucial to list the course number for the specific session you attended. Note that the same course title might have different course numbers depending on whether it’s a self-paced or live version.
When entering hours for your training, always refer to the Course Catalog for the listed time for each course. Enter the hours based on the catalog, even if a class session concludes earlier than scheduled. For example, if the catalog lists a course as 2 hours, and it finishes in 1.5 hours, you should still claim 2 hours.
Keep in mind that self-paced courses vary in length from 30 minutes to three hours. While some three-hour self-paced classes might be completed in less time, you will still receive three hours of training credit for each. Similarly, a 30-minute class earns you 30 minutes of credit, regardless of whether you spend longer reviewing materials. The system does track course completion activity. Therefore, actively engage with the course material to ensure you receive proper credit and payment for your participation in the IHSS career pathways programs.
By following these steps, you can confidently submit your IHSS Career Pathways training hours and incentives through the electronic timesheet portal, maximizing your benefits from this valuable program.
