Why Bridge Week is Essential for Emory Wound Care Nursing Students
Participation in Bridge Week is mandatory for all Traditional Pathway students enrolled in the Emory Wound Care Program, underscoring its significance in the curriculum. Beyond the hands-on training with experienced clinical instructors at the Emory Nursing Learning Center (ENLC), students benefit from accruing clinical hours during Bridge Week itself. This is a significant advantage, reducing the total precepted clinical hours required. For instance, tri-specialty students earn 26 clinical hours during Bridge Week, decreasing their subsequent required precepted clinical hours from 120 to just 94.
Networking and Certification Preparation
Bridge Week at Emory is not solely about skills acquisition; it’s also a prime opportunity for professional growth. Students connect and network with fellow WOC nursing students from across the nation and even Canada, fostering a collaborative learning environment. It’s also a chance to engage directly with the WOCNEC Team, gaining valuable insights, clarifying complex concepts, and proactively preparing for WOC nursing certification. Bridge Week sessions are scheduled approximately every six weeks, aligning with the students’ specific program of study. It’s important to note that the Continence Bridge Week is conducted virtually.

There are no additional tuition fees for Bridge Week, making this intensive training even more accessible. Students are responsible for their travel, accommodation, and personal expenses while in Decatur, GA. The Emory Nursing Learning Center, located at 250 East Ponce de Leon, Decatur, GA, is conveniently situated near hotels, dining options, shops, and the MARTA station, making car rental unnecessary. Group hotel discounts are often available, further easing logistical concerns.
