We are pleased to announce that visitations at our facility are now open, in accordance with CMS and NYSDOH guidelines. Understanding the importance of family connections for the well-being of our residents, we have streamlined our visitation process to make it easier for you to see your loved ones. Your experiences and feedback are invaluable to us as we continuously strive to provide the best possible care, and we believe that positive family visits contribute significantly to the overall quality of our Amsterdam adult day health care program. While prior appointments are not necessary, we kindly request that you refrain from visiting if you or anyone in your household is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, has tested positive, or is under quarantine.
To ensure the safety and well-being of all our residents and staff, certain protocols remain in place. Visitors are required to present a negative COVID-19 test result, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain social distancing during their visit within the facility. Additionally, a brief COVID-19 health screening questionnaire must be completed before entry is permitted.
While vaccination is not mandatory for visitation, we strongly encourage all visitors to consider getting vaccinated against COVID-19. Vaccination significantly reduces the risk of transmission and ensures a safer environment for everyone, allowing for more relaxed and worry-free visits with your loved ones. Please feel free to discuss COVID-19 vaccines with our staff should you have any questions or wish to learn more. It is important to note that this open visitation policy is subject to change based on updates from CMS and NYSDOH or in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak within our facility. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate these evolving guidelines.
Testing Requirements for Visitors
To gain entry into the facility, all visitors must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result. We accept two types of tests:
- Rapid Antigen Test: If you choose to present a Rapid Antigen Test, it must be negative and administered within 24 hours prior to your visit. For example, for a visit on Sunday, the test should be taken no earlier than Saturday.
- PCR Test: If you opt for a PCR test, it must be negative and conducted within 48 hours before your visitation. For instance, a PCR test for a Sunday visit should be done no earlier than Friday.
For frequent visitors, including those who visit daily, we require proof of negative testing as often as possible, with a minimum requirement of every 3 days. Should a visitor arrive without a valid negative test result within the stipulated timeframe, our Nursing Home can provide an iHealth OTC COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test for self-administration at the facility.
Exemptions from Testing
Certain exceptions to the visitor testing requirements are made in specific circumstances:
- Compassionate Care and End-of-Life Situations: Visitors of residents receiving compassionate care, hospice services, end-of-life care, or those undergoing significant mental, physical, or social decline are exempt from mandatory testing. In these cases, visitors will be required to wear additional PPE as deemed necessary by our facility personnel.
- Emergency Medical Services (EMS): Emergency Medical Services personnel are not subject to visitor testing requirements.
We look forward to welcoming you and appreciate your help in keeping our community safe and healthy. Your visits are a vital part of our residents’ lives, and we are committed to facilitating meaningful connections while maintaining the highest standards of safety and care. We believe that our dedication to resident well-being and family engagement is reflected in the positive feedback and Amsterdam Adult Day Health Care Program Reviews we receive.
