Dr. John Machell has been a cornerstone of the Nashua dental community since 1978, bringing decades of experience and a deep commitment to both his patients and the wider community. A Nashua native, Dr. Machell’s journey in dentistry began after graduating from Nashua High School and earning a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of New Hampshire. He furthered his education at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, obtaining his Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 1977. His pursuit of advanced knowledge led him to complete a Hospital General Practice Residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware, and Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This extensive training equipped him with a broad skillset, including advanced techniques in denture care and restorative dentistry, crucial for programs like the NH Dental Society Denture Care Program.
Dr. Machell’s dedication to excellence is reflected in his Mastership status from the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), awarded in 2006. This prestigious recognition underscores his continuous pursuit of education and his unwavering commitment to enhanced patient care, principles that are vital to providing effective denture care through community initiatives. His membership in the American Academy of Osseointegration highlights his expertise in implant dentistry, offering patients a full spectrum of restorative options, including implant-supported dentures.
Beyond his clinical expertise, Dr. Machell is deeply involved in the dental community. He is a long-standing member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the New Hampshire Dental Society, the Greater Nashua Dental Component, and the North Shore Study Club. His service to the New Hampshire Dental Society is extensive, including serving as the Nashua Component Trustee from 1984 to 1987 and on the Peer Review Committee since 1989, chairing the Greater Nashua Component since 1993. From 2001 to 2004, he served as President of the Board for Priority Dental Health, a subsidiary of the New Hampshire Dental Society. This leadership within the dental society demonstrates his commitment to advancing dental care standards and supporting initiatives like the NH Dental Society Denture Care Program.
Dr. Machell’s commitment to community service is profound. He actively volunteers his time and expertise to numerous organizations, including the NH Denture Care Program, providing no-fee or reduced-fee services to those in need. His involvement extends to organizations like the Nashua Children’s Center, Nashua Access Program, Girls Inc., and Marie House, showcasing his dedication to improving oral health access across various demographics. His community involvement also includes Career Day at Nashua High Schools, health screenings at local health fairs, the Shriners children ID program, and dental presentations to young children, fostering a culture of oral health awareness from a young age.
Recognized by his peers for his exceptional skills, Dr. Machell has been consistently named in NH Magazine’s Top Dentist Recognition publication in 2005, 2006, 2008, and from 2010 to 2013. His dedication to general dentistry, particularly in restorative services like dentures, combined with his community spirit and participation in programs such as the NH Dental Society Denture Care Program, makes him a truly outstanding dental professional.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Machell enjoys soccer, skiing, cycling, and golf, and he is an avid antique car restorer. He cherishes time with his family – his wife, daughter, and son.
Sally, Registered Dental Hygienist – Partnering with Patients for Optimal Oral Health
Sally, our experienced Registered Dental Hygienist, graduated from Westbrook College in Portland, Maine, with a Certificate in Dental Hygiene. Her advanced certifications include administering local anesthesia and gingival soft tissue laser treatment, allowing her to provide comprehensive and comfortable hygiene care. Sally’s career spans various dental specialties, including pedodontics, orthodontics, and general dentistry, with a special focus on periodontal therapy. Her diverse background enriches our practice and enhances our ability to support patients who may require specialized denture care follow-up and maintenance. She also served as a Dental Supervisor for an HMO in Boston, demonstrating her leadership and organizational skills within the dental field.
Sally’s commitment to her profession is evident in her past presidency of the Massachusetts Dental Hygienists’ Association and her chairmanship of the Continuing Education Committee. Nationally, she served as a Delegate to the American Dental Hygienists’ Association for several years and chaired the Standing Rules of the House of Delegates. This extensive involvement in dental hygiene leadership highlights her dedication to advancing the field and ensuring high standards of patient care, principles that directly benefit our patients at Nashua Dental, including those benefiting from programs like the NH Dental Society Denture Care Program.
Sally’s primary goal is to partner with her patients to achieve and maintain optimal oral health. She believes that excellent oral health is integral to overall health and well-being, a philosophy that aligns perfectly with the goals of community dental programs focused on preventative and restorative care, such as denture programs.
In her free time, Sally enjoys gardening, the beach, volunteering at the Nashua Soup Kitchen, and spending quality time with friends and her family, including her husband Ron and children, Hayley and Cameron.
Amanda, Registered Dental Hygienist – Advancing Preventative Dental Hygiene with Technology
Amanda is a Nashua native, having graduated from Nashua High School before earning both her assisting certificate and Associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene from New Hampshire Technical Institute. She obtained licensure to administer local anesthesia during her studies, further expanding her skillset. Throughout her career, Amanda has focused on building strong patient relationships and promoting preventive dental hygiene. Her dedication to utilizing the latest dental technology ensures her patients receive the most effective and advanced care possible. This commitment to modern techniques is valuable in all aspects of dental care, including the maintenance and care of dentures, and supports the broader goals of accessible dental health promoted by programs like the NH Dental Society Denture Care Program. Amanda is delighted to be practicing dental hygiene in her hometown, serving the community she grew up in.
Outside of the office, Amanda enjoys spending time with friends, reading, Pilates, and attending country concerts.
Kathy, Treatment Facilitator – Welcoming and Guiding New Patients
Kathy joined our practice in 1998 as a Dental Assistant and has been an invaluable member of our team for over 20 years. Certified in Dental Radiology from NHTI, Kathy brings over 30 years of experience in the dental field to Nashua Dental. As our Treatment Facilitator, Kathy plays a crucial role in welcoming new clients and guiding them through their initial experiences at our practice. Her extensive experience and warm demeanor help ensure a smooth and positive start for every patient, whether they are seeking routine care or more specialized services related to dentures or programs like the NH Dental Society Denture Care Program.
Kathy resides in Merrimack, NH, with her husband Don and daughter, Eileen. Her personal interests include traveling, volunteering at church, bicycling, gardening, and cooking.

Melissa has been an integral part of our dental team for over a decade. A graduate of the New Hampshire Technical Institute with a degree in Dental Assisting, Melissa is a dedicated and skilled assistant who is passionate about helping patients achieve their dental goals. Her experience and caring approach make her a favorite among our patients. Melissa lives in Hudson with her husband Tim and their children Ava and Timmy. She enjoys camping, traveling, swimming, and spending quality time with her family.

Mindy joined Nashua Dental in 2007 as our Business Coordinator, bringing with her a BA in social science from the University of Massachusetts and over 20 years of experience in business coordination for general practices. Prior to her dental career, Mindy worked in the corporate sector in human resources, focusing on employee relations. Her extensive experience in business management and human resources ensures the smooth and efficient operation of our practice. Mindy’s organizational skills are essential in supporting the administrative aspects of patient care, including managing appointments and patient information related to various services, potentially including those connected to community programs like the NH Dental Society Denture Care Program. Mindy and her husband Mark reside in Nashua and enjoy the beach, travel, and family time.
