Troubleshooting Techline Connect Programming Issues

The Techline Connect desktop application, crucial for GM vehicle diagnostics and programming, can sometimes fail to launch. This article outlines a proven solution for resolving this issue when using the CARDAQ 3 J-Box with Microsoft Edge.

Symptoms of this problem include the Techline Connect icon responding to clicks but the application failing to open. A loading icon may briefly appear. This issue has been observed with both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, but the following workaround has only been successful with Microsoft Edge.

First, ensure your PC and browser software are up-to-date. If the Techline Connect application has already been attempted and failed to launch, restart your PC. Next, open Microsoft Edge and navigate to the ACDelcoTDS website. Verify that no necessary site permissions are blocked. If any are blocked, allow them and restart the browser.

Once the browser is restarted, log in to ACDelcoTDS. Select a previous VIN or click “Add VIN.” This action should trigger the Techline Connect Admin Console page to open. However, sometimes a VSP login page will appear instead. If this happens, close the VSP page and retry selecting a VIN or adding a new one within ACDelcoTDS. This should successfully launch the Techline Connect Admin Console.

On the Admin Console page, locate and click “Launch Techline connect as admin,” then select “Download Techline Connect.” The installation process will begin, potentially taking a few minutes to complete. During installation, you might be prompted to repair or remove the wrapper. If so, choose the repair option; this prompt may appear multiple times. After the installation finishes, Techline Connect should open automatically. Close the application and then click “Launch Techline Connect” again. The application should now launch and function normally within the browser.

Currently, this workaround is confirmed to work with Microsoft Edge. It has not been tested with other browsers, and attempts using Google Chrome have been unsuccessful. This solution provides a reliable method for technicians experiencing Techline Connect Programming difficulties using the CARDAQ 3 J-Box.
