BMW N55: Pure Turbos Unleashes Pure 500 and Pure 750 Turbo Upgrades

Pure Turbos has launched two new turbocharger upgrades for the Bmw N55 engine, the Pure 500 and Pure 750. Both turbos feature custom housings and CHRA (Center Housing Rotating Assembly), eliminating the need for core exchanges.

Pure 500: Redefining the Stage 1 Turbo

The Pure 500 is a redesigned version of the Pure Stage 1 turbo. The key improvement is the integration of a custom GT28 style turbine. This upgrade replaces the previously clipped turbines, which were modified for better flow but often compromised low-end spool and response. The custom GT28 turbine in the Pure 500 aims to deliver increased exhaust flow without sacrificing low-end performance. This enhancement potentially positions the Pure 500 as the top-performing Stage 1 turbo upgrade for the N55, particularly benefiting track enthusiasts who prioritize responsiveness. However, performance data for the Pure 500 remains unavailable, as the dyno graphs on Pure Turbos’ website currently showcase the older Pure Stage 1, not the new Pure 500.

Pure 750: Aiming for 600+ WHP

The Pure 750 is designed for high-power output, featuring a custom exhaust manifold paired with a larger compressor and exhaust turbine. This combination is anticipated to enable the N55 engine to reach well over 600 wheel horsepower (WHP). However, official performance figures have yet to be released. The Pure 750’s manifold closely resembles the designs from VTT and Frakenturbo, suggesting it will be a direct competitor in the high-performance turbocharger market for the N55.

Awaiting Performance Data

While both the Pure 500 and Pure 750 hold significant promise for enhancing the performance of the BMW N55 engine, real-world testing and dyno results are crucial for validating their capabilities. The absence of concrete performance data makes it difficult to definitively assess their performance against existing options. Enthusiasts eagerly await further information and independent testing to determine the true potential of these new turbocharger upgrades. The innovative design of the Pure 500, particularly its custom GT28 turbine, suggests a potential game-changer in the Stage 1 category. Meanwhile, the Pure 750, with its larger components and custom manifold, aims to compete in the high-power realm. Time and testing will reveal if these new offerings from Pure Turbos live up to their potential.
