Our successful participants have launched and advanced their careers at industry-leading organizations such as EY, Meta, Google, Pinterest, Nike, Sony Music, and NBCUniversal, among many others, demonstrating the program’s profound impact.

Participants in the Career Coaching Program benefit from comprehensive resources meticulously designed to cover crucial career development areas. These materials delve into effective resume and cover letter crafting, strategic internship and job searching methodologies, advanced interview preparation techniques, impactful professional communication strategies, the nuances of networking, the significance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and essential leadership skills. Program Structure and Time Commitment

Kick-Off Weekend

To Be Announced – Friday & Saturday in September

The program commences with an immersive Kick-Off Weekend, a mandatory event designed to lay the foundation for your career coaching journey. This weekend is crucial for introducing you to your dedicated Career Coach, providing a comprehensive program overview, and fostering connections with fellow student participants. A significant focus will be placed on guiding you through the process of exploring and defining your personal and professional aspirations. Additionally, you will participate in an insightful Etiquette Lunch and gain valuable self-awareness through the MBTI Career Assessment. All meals during the Kick-Off Weekend are provided. Your attendance is essential to maximize the benefits of this program.

General Sessions

Typically held every 2-3 weeks on Tuesday evenings, from 7 PM to 9 PM, spanning from mid-September through mid-November (concluding before Thanksgiving).

These mandatory General Sessions bring together all Career Coaches and student participants to delve into essential career development topics. Subjects covered include mastering interviewing skills, building a compelling personal brand, refining professional communication techniques, and cultivating leadership capabilities. These sessions offer a unique opportunity to network with all the esteemed Career Coaches involved in the program, broadening your professional connections and insights. Refreshments will be provided during these sessions.

Final Banquet

The culmination of the Career Coaching Program is celebrated with a formal Final Banquet, bringing together coaches, student participants, and program alumni. This special evening provides a platform for students and coaches to share their transformative experiences and for students to receive official program completion certificates, marking their successful engagement and growth throughout the program. Attendance at this celebratory event is required.

Dedicated Student-Coach Time

Beyond the structured sessions, the Pepperdine Career Coaching Program emphasizes personalized mentorship through required interactions between students and their assigned coaches between each General Session. Designed to accommodate diverse schedules, these interactions can take various forms, including email exchanges, phone conversations, or in-person meetings. These personalized sessions, arranged directly between the student and coach, offer flexibility and can range from workplace tours and dinners to casual coffee meetings or lunches, providing tailored guidance and networking opportunities.

Application Details

Pepperdine University students eager to participate in the Career Coaching Program must submit a complete application via Handshake. The application process also requires two recommendations from Pepperdine faculty or staff members who can attest to your potential and suitability for the program. Detailed instructions and application guidelines are available on Handshake, ensuring a smooth and informed application process. The program is open to all Pepperdine rising juniors and seniors across all majors and career interests, encouraging a diverse cohort of ambitious students.
