Unlock Your Potential: Explore the Career Enhancement Program

Are you a dedicated employee looking to advance your career within your current role? The Career Enhancement/Growth Program (CEGP) is designed to recognize and reward eligible staff members like you who consistently exceed expectations. This program provides an opportunity for professional growth and financial recognition for your contributions.

What is the Career Enhancement Program?

The CEGP acknowledges employees in regular and nonpermanent contract classified positions, represented by SEIU 925 and WFSE, who have demonstrated significant growth in their roles. It’s for those who have reached the highest pay step in their job classification or an intermediate CEGP step and have been in that position for at least a year. More than just tenure, this program celebrates employees whose enhanced skills, increased efficiency, or assumption of more demanding responsibilities have demonstrably benefited their service. Importantly, the CEGP is for situations where these advancements go beyond the typical expectations of the job classification but don’t warrant a full job reclassification. Think of it as a way to formally recognize and reward your expanded contributions within your existing role. Receiving a CEGP step increases your pay but does not change your increment date.

Who is Eligible for the Career Enhancement Program?

Eligibility hinges on a few key criteria. You are eligible to be considered for the CEGP if you:

  • Are a regular or nonpermanent contract classified employee represented by SEIU 925 or WFSE.
  • Have been in your current job classification at the top automatic increment step, or a CEGP intermediate step, for a minimum of one year.
  • Have consistently demonstrated skill development, increased productivity, or taken on higher-level duties that have resulted in service improvements or greater efficiency. These enhancements should exceed what is typically expected at your classification level but not be significant enough for a job reclassification.

How to Apply for a Career Enhancement Step

Either you or your manager can initiate a CEGP step request. If you are an employee seeking a CEGP step, the first step is to complete the Classified Staff Career Enhancement Growth Program (CEGP) form. You can enhance your request by including up to three letters of recommendation that support your application. Submit the completed form to your manager for their review.

For those on the Campus, management-initiated requests require the CEGP form to be attached in Workday. Employees submitting their own requests should email the completed form to Employee Workday Help at [email protected].

For Medical Centers, send the completed CEGP form to Medical Centers HR – WMS at either [email protected] or [email protected].

All CEGP requests are carefully reviewed by HR Operations and are ultimately approved or denied by the HR Compensation Office. A CEGP award can be effective no sooner than two pay periods before the appointing authority’s approval date. There are no quotas on CEGP steps within a unit, meaning multiple deserving staff can be recognized.

Take charge of your career growth and explore the Career Enhancement Program to see if your contributions qualify for recognition. Contact the Compensation Office if you have any questions about the program or application process.
