The DTCO® SmartLink allows remote connection to your DTCO® digital tachograph via the VDO Driver App on your smartphone. This provides a modern interface and access to many DTCO® functions directly on your phone. While a free digital tachograph simulator isn’t directly offered, this app provides real-time interaction with your existing hardware.
VDO Driver App Prerequisites
Before using the VDO Driver App, ensure you meet these requirements:
- DTCO® SmartLink: This hardware component enables the connection between your smartphone and the digital tachograph.
- Compatible Digital Tachograph: A VDO DTCO® version 1.3 to 4.0 is required for compatibility.
- Valid Driver Card: A current and valid driver card is necessary for authentication and operation.
- Business Use Only: The app is designed for professional drivers and business purposes.

Remote DTCO® Control (Version 1.3+)
View and control your DTCO® display remotely on your smartphone. Utilize hotkeys for quick printouts directly from your phone.
Remote DTCO® 2.2 Control
Manage and operate your DTCO® 2.2 remotely with enhanced functionalities:
- Manual Entries: Add manual entries for begin/end country and driver activities.
- Vehicle Entries: Input vehicle-specific entries such as OUT, Ferry, UTC, and LOCAL.
- Multiple Printouts: Print multiple documents as needed.
- Combined Eject and Print: Eject the driver card and print simultaneously.
- Warnings: View important warnings and notifications.
Calendar Function (Version 1.4+)
Review recorded activities on your driver card for each calendar day, providing a convenient overview of your daily work.
VDO Counter Function (Version 2.0a+)
- VDO Counter (Version 2.0a+): Graphically monitor remaining driving and resting times.
- Driver History (Version 2.2+): Review past driving and rest periods for better time management.
Vehicle Data (Version 2.2+)
Access detailed vehicle operational data unique to the DTCO® 2.2, including:
- Fuel Consumption
