EFILive V7.5: Troubleshooting PID Display Issues

When using Efilive V7.5 software, users may encounter issues with Parameter IDs (PIDs) disappearing after switching between different vehicle controllers. This problem typically arises when moving between significantly different engine types, such as switching from a GM controller to a Cummins (CMB) controller within the software.

This issue stems from the software’s architecture. When a specific controller type is selected (e.g., Cummins), EFILive V7.5 loads the corresponding PIDs for that engine type. Consequently, PIDs associated with other manufacturers (e.g., GM) become unavailable, as they are not relevant to the selected controller. This behavior is expected, as Cummins engines utilize different data parameters compared to GM engines.

However, a problem arises when attempting to revert to the original controller. Simply re-selecting the initial controller (e.g., E38 for a GM vehicle) might not automatically restore the previously displayed PIDs. This necessitates re-opening the log file to properly reload and display the correct set of PIDs for the chosen controller. This workaround, although effective, highlights a potential usability issue within the software’s current configuration.

The root cause of this behavior likely lies in how EFILive V7.5 manages and caches PID data for different controller types. When switching between controllers, the software may not efficiently clear the previously loaded PID set and reload the appropriate data for the newly selected controller. This leads to the observed behavior where PIDs disappear and require a log file reload to reappear.

To resolve this issue, users currently need to re-open the log file after switching back to the desired controller. This action forces the software to refresh its PID data and display the correct parameters. A more streamlined solution might involve implementing a mechanism within EFILive V7.5 to automatically reload the appropriate PID set whenever a different controller is selected, eliminating the need for manual log file reopening. This improvement would enhance user experience and workflow efficiency when working with multiple vehicle types within the EFILive V7.5 software.
