Flash Advance to USL W-League Semifinals

The Buffalo Flash Advanced to the USL W-League semifinals after a 1-0 victory over the Ottawa Fury. The Flash, assisted by coach Peter Veltri, secured their spot in the semifinals during their second season in the league. The game took place at Niagara Field on Sunday night.

Veltri, also the head coach of the Niagara women’s soccer team, contributed to the Flash’s impressive 12-0-2 record this season. The team achieved significant milestones, winning the 2010 Midwest Division title and the 2010 Central Conference championship. Niagara Field hosted all three games of the Central Conference competition. Flash General Manager Henrik Ambarchian praised Niagara University for their support in hosting the games, particularly during the busy Empire State Games weekend.

Beyond their on-field success, the Flash and Sahlen’s Sports Park are committed to developing and promoting soccer, especially among younger players. Ambarchian emphasized that this initiative is a natural extension of their business. By bringing in players from countries like Spain and England, the Flash provides valuable learning opportunities for both coaches and young players, exposing them to new perspectives and approaches to the game.

The Flash faced the Atlanta Silverbacks in Santa Clarita, California, on Thursday for a chance to compete in the USL W-League Championship game. The championship game was broadcasted live on Fox Soccer Channel on Saturday, July 31st.

Assistant Coach Peter Veltri played a key role in the Buffalo Flash’s success.
