We are seeking a motivated and experienced VSC Assistant Manager to play a crucial role in our Vehicle Service Contracts (VSC) Department. The Vehicle Service Contracts (VSC) Department is at the heart of building lasting relationships with Honda and Acura customers and dealers. Through our Honda Care and Acura Care vehicle protection programs, we deliver premier product offerings and exceptional service. As a VSC Assistant Manager, you will be instrumental in managing the business plan for VSC operations, working closely with AHFC, AHM, and other stakeholders to drive business development and field sales.

Your mission will be to ensure the ongoing success of key business plan projects and Key Operating Indicators (KOIs). Operating within a highly regulated environment, VSC is a significant contributor to Honda’s financial success, generating over $70 million in annual profit. This role offers a unique opportunity to impact product development, administration, marketing, and compliance within a dynamic and profitable department.

As Assistant Manager, you will lead a dedicated business team focused on expanding the reach of Honda Care and Acura Care. This involves:

  • Enhancing product offerings: Keeping pace with market trends and compliance requirements to ensure our F&I products remain competitive and valuable.
  • Optimizing profitability: Analyzing and refining profit structures to maximize revenue and efficiency.
  • Strengthening dealer support: Developing incentives and resources to empower dealerships to effectively promote and sell VSC products.
  • Boosting brand visibility: Creating impactful marketing strategies for both dealers and consumers to elevate product awareness and appeal.
  • Ensuring seamless integration: Working to integrate VSC products with dealer sales technologies and retail platforms for a streamlined customer experience.

Key Responsibilities: Driving Sales, Profitability, and Satisfaction

As the VSC Assistant Manager, your key accountabilities will include:

  • Strategic Execution: Develop and execute strategies to achieve ambitious sales, profitability, and dealership satisfaction targets. This involves establishing national objectives, analyzing market trends in collaboration with AHFC & AHM leadership, and implementing program enhancements and marketing initiatives to fuel growth. You will be responsible for communicating strategic direction effectively and collaborating with regional management to create and implement annual business plans with clear KPIs and MARs.

  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the day-to-day business operations for F&I product development, administration, and marketing. You will ensure daily targets are met, build efficient business and training processes, and provide regular, insightful reporting on sales performance and project progress. Your problem-solving skills will be essential in addressing organizational challenges and fostering a collaborative team environment through effective performance management and coaching.

  • Sales and Profitability Growth: Develop and implement sales and profitability strategies, leveraging your understanding of local market conditions. You will contribute to regional action plans, provide guidance to field associates, and cultivate strong dealership relationships. Organizing dealer events to promote the value of VSC will be a key aspect of your role, maximizing dealer support and addressing any challenges effectively.

  • Planning and Coordination: Guide cross-departmental planning, ensuring alignment of timing and processes with stakeholders. You will track progress against planning schedules and ensure the VSC Business Plan is professionally prepared and delivered to AH Senior Leadership on time.

  • Ad-hoc Management Support: Provide support for various requests from management as needed.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills: Your Path to Success at Honda

  • Educational Foundation: A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Industry Expertise: 5-10+ years of combined experience in automotive sales, parts, service, finance, or F&I products.
  • Project Management Acumen: 3+ years of proven project management experience.
  • Leadership Skills: 3+ years of people management experience is preferred, demonstrating your ability to lead and motivate teams.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Prowess: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively address business challenges and optimize performance.
  • Process Management Skills: Familiarity with process management methodologies such as System Trees, PDCA, CAP-Do, 5-P, SWOT.
  • Adaptability and Multitasking: The ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment and effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Excellence: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively across teams.
