Preparing for the H&S Performance Update
Before you begin, gather the necessary tools:
- A Windows PC with a free USB port
- The USB adapter included with your Mini Maxx (or a micro-SD card slot on your PC)
- The SD card from your Mini Maxx V2 tuner
- A battery charger capable of supplying at least 10 amps (highly recommended)
H&S Performance Update: Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Preparing the SD Card
- Remove the SD card from your Mini Maxx V2.
- Connect the SD card to your Windows PC using the included USB adapter or your PC’s built-in SD card slot.
- Crucially, ensure your SD card is named precisely “MINI MAXX” (without quotation marks). If using a new SD card, reformat it to FAT (not FAT32 or exFAT) and rename it accordingly.
Step 2: Updating the SD Card
- Download the latest H&S Performance update file (zipped folder).
- Extract the contents of the zipped folder.
- Open the updater software. If you encounter an error regarding connecting the MMV2 drive, double-check the SD card connection and restart the updater software.
- Allow the updater to download the necessary files and update the SD card. Eject the SD card when prompted.
Step 3: Updating the Mini Maxx V2 Tuner
- Insert the updated SD card into your Mini Maxx V2.
- Power on the tuner.
- Navigate to the Menu, scroll down, and select “Update Firmware.”
- Allow the tuner to update and reboot.
Step 4: Updating the Tune on Your Truck
- Connect the updated Mini Maxx V2 to your truck’s OBD-II port.
- Power on the tuner. Verify the correct vehicle is selected. If not, change it using the “Change Vehicle” option in the menu.
- To reflash the PCM, go to the Menu and select “Install Download.”
- Follow the on-screen instructions to load the new tune file.
Important Considerations for the H&S Performance Update
- Battery Charger: Always connect a battery charger (minimum 10 amps) when flashing the PCM to prevent voltage drops that could interrupt the process and potentially damage the PCM.
- File System: A “missing SD card” error indicates an incorrect file system. Ensure the SD card is formatted as FAT.
- Missing Files: Errors about missing files usually mean the update files weren’t copied correctly to the SD card. Ensure you copied the contents within the extracted folder, not the folder itself.
- Version Number: A known bug prevents the version number from changing after the update. This will be addressed in future updates. The priority is delivering updated tune files.
This completes the H&S performance update process. Enjoy the enhanced performance and new features! If you encounter any issues, refer to the official H&S Performance support documentation for troubleshooting assistance.
