The Internal Medicine Residency Program at McLaren Health Care Oakland, in partnership with Michigan State University (MSU), offers an exceptional continuity clinic experience at Baybrooke Internal Medicine. This program is meticulously designed to cultivate well-rounded physicians through hands-on patient care and comprehensive clinical training. Residents are considered junior partners within the clinic, empowered to build their own patient panel and deliver high-value, quality healthcare services.
A cornerstone of the McLaren Oakland MSU program is the emphasis on practical skills development. Residents gain proficiency in managing chronic diseases, delivering preventative care strategies, and effectively addressing acute outpatient conditions. Furthermore, the program provides opportunities to refine specialized skills. Residents can hone their ultrasound diagnostic abilities utilizing Butterfly IQ technology and master essential procedures such as joint injections, joint aspirations, cerumen removal/irrigation, and skin biopsies.
Under the expert supervision of Clinic Director Dr. Robert Davis and faculty member Dr. Lyndsi Davenport, residents provide care to a diverse patient population from Pontiac and surrounding communities. Dr. Davis, a graduate of St. George’s University of London and residency-trained at Wellspan York Hospital, brings extensive experience including a fellowship at Michigan State University. His background in Advanced Heart Failure, Structural Heart Disease, and Transplant medicine enriches the learning environment. Dr. Davenport, an alumna of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, specializes in preventive medicine and chronic disease management, also holding an Academic Fellowship from MSU. Their combined expertise ensures residents receive comprehensive mentorship and guidance, making the Mclaren Health Care Oakland Msu Program a robust platform for aspiring internal medicine physicians.
