The National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF) Secure Data Release Model (SDRM) now includes nationwide key code access from both General Motors (GM) and Ford. Previously limited to California, this expansion allows registered security professionals and service technicians in all 50 states to obtain key codes through the SDRM.
This significant development highlights the growing importance of the SDRM in addressing the automotive service industry’s need for secure vehicle information. NASTF Chairman Charlie Gorman welcomed GM and Ford’s expanded participation, emphasizing the value of their contribution to the comprehensive data provided by participating OEMs.
With the addition of GM and Ford, a total of ten manufacturers now offer nationwide access to key codes and other vital security information via the SDRM. These manufacturers include Honda, Kia, Land Rover, Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, and Volvo. This collaborative effort ensures a more consistent and accessible approach to security data retrieval for qualified professionals across the country.
The NASTF website (www.nastf.org) serves as a central resource for all SDRM related information. Detailed information regarding the registration process, required qualifications for access, and downloadable application forms are available on the site. This ensures transparency and facilitates the participation of qualified security professionals and repairers in the program.
Established in 2000, NASTF is a 501(c)6 non-profit organization dedicated to identifying and resolving gaps in automotive service information, training, tools, and equipment accessibility. Their mission benefits both automotive service professionals and consumers by promoting a more informed and efficient repair process.
