Understanding the New Jersey Charity Care Program
The New Jersey Charity Care Program is a state-funded initiative that provides financial aid to low-income New Jersey residents who require essential hospital services. If you are uninsured or underinsured and struggling to afford your hospital bills, you may qualify for charity care. This program can significantly reduce or even eliminate your out-of-pocket expenses for necessary medical treatments received at Atlantic Health System facilities. It’s important to note that while charity care covers essential hospital services, it may not extend to separate charges like physician fees, anesthesiology, radiology interpretations, or outpatient prescriptions.
Eligibility and Application for Charity Care

However, it’s important to note that asset thresholds are not considered for discounted care eligibility.
