Announced in 2020, this joint venture combines the automotive expertise of PSA Automotive (now Stellantis) with the energy storage knowledge of TotalEnergies and Saft. The collaboration aims to address the growing demand for EV batteries, projected to reach 400 GWh in Europe by 2030. To achieve this, ACC plans to establish two “gigafactories” in Douvrin, France, and Kaiserslautern, Germany. These facilities will have a combined capacity of 48 GWh by 2030, enabling the production of one million electric vehicles annually. This represents a significant contribution to the European EV market, estimated to be around 10%.
