Franklin, Tenn. – The 2019 Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl (MMLVB) was more than just a football game; it was a platform for community impact. While the Boise State Broncos and Washington Huskies battled on the field at Sam Boyd Stadium, Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) and Ally Financial teamed up with local Las Vegas heroes, Tony and Nikki Berti, and their Goodie Two Shoes Foundation to champion a cause far beyond the gridiron.
Goodie Two Shoes, the official charity partner of the MMLVB, dedicates itself to providing disadvantaged children and those in crisis with essential items for well-being and development, most notably new shoes and socks. This partnership exemplifies MMNA’s “Small Batch – Big Impact” corporate social responsibility initiative. This program redefines the acronym “CUV” to stand for “Community Utility Vehicle,” focusing on deploying vehicle loans to support small nonprofits and bolster local communities.
Kimberley Gardiner, vice president and chief marketing officer at MMNA, emphasized the initiative’s core belief: “Small actions can lead to big change.” She highlighted Goodie Two Shoes as a prime example of this principle in action. Gardiner acknowledged the student-athletes’ athletic prowess but underscored the profound impact of Tony and Nikki Berti’s work for Las Vegas children, stating, “We just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to support their cause.”
During the halftime show of the 2019 MMLVB, Goodie Two Shoes received a significant boost to their operations: a 2020 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross “Community Utility Vehicle” and a $10,000 donation from Ally Financial. This contribution aimed to alleviate the charity’s operational expenses and enhance their outreach capabilities. Adding to the community-driven effort, local Mitsubishi dealer-partner Johnny Legends initiated a sock drive in the lead-up to the game. Donors of new socks or those who took a test drive at the dealership were rewarded with game tickets, while supplies lasted, further engaging the local community in the charitable endeavor.
Nikki Berti, co-founder of Goodie Two Shoes Foundation, expressed deep gratitude for Mitsubishi’s support. “We can’t express how much the support from Mitsubishi means to us. We can’t wait to put the Eclipse Cross to use and continue to provide children with new socks and shoes, a positive experience, and the support they deserve,” she stated. The launch of this partnership at the 2019 Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl added extra significance to the event, highlighting the blend of sportsmanship and community service.
The 2019 Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl took place on December 21 at Sam Boyd Stadium. Johnny Legends Mitsubishi, located at 6165 S. Decatur Boulevard in Las Vegas, amplified the event’s community engagement by offering game tickets for test drives and sock donations, reinforcing the spirit of giving associated with the event.
